Johnson's Lawn Care

Here is the story of how Johnson's Lawn Care came to be.

In February of 1989, at the age of 11, a school teacher across the street from my parents house asked my father if I would like to make some extra money shoveling snow.  With a shovel and the desire to earn enough money to buy myself a go kart, I made my first $6.00 profit.  By the spring of 1989, I made a deal with my dad to rent his push mower to start my own lawn care business.  A neighbor kid who had a paper route allowed me to advertise by putting homemade business cards inside of the newspapers he delivered.  By the time summer came around, with an $8.00 price per lawn, I was mowing nearly every lawn within a four block radius of my home.  The following summer, I purchased a used riding mower with my profits from my first year of mowing.  I drove my riding mower, with a small trailer in tow loaded with more equipment, as far as 20 blocks from home to expand my customer base.  I finally made enough money to buy my first go kart in the summer of 1990.

Fast forward to nearly three decades and several go karts later, Johnson's Lawn Care has now grown into a husband and wife team that provides quality services with competitive prices to over 40 local businesses and residents in Lee County, Iowa.
